Star Trek: Discovery actor Kenneth Mitchell died on Saturday at the age of 49, five and a half years after being diagnosed with ALS.
Obituary posted by his family on official website Instagram “Ken faced a series of terrifying challenges with ALS, and in true Ken fashion, he was able to overcome each one with grace and a determination to live a full and joyful life in each moment. He lived by the principle that every day is like this.” “It’s a gift and that we never walk alone. Mitchell learned in August 2018 that he was battling ALS. By October 2019, he was using a wheelchair, but continued to act as Joseph Danvers in 2019’s Captain Marvel.
Born in Toronto on November 25, 1974, he made his television debut in 2001 in the series ‘Leap Years’.
He has appeared in “Odyssey 5” (2002), “Grey’s Anatomy” (2006), “CSI: Miami” (2006), “The Unit” (2006), “Ghost Whisperer” (2008-2009) He appeared on programs such as. Bones” (2013), “NCIS” (2014), “Astronaut Wives Club” (2015), “Frequency” (2016-2017), and “Nancy Drew” (2019-2020).
Mitchell made his film debut in the 2003 drama The Recruit, starring Al Pacino and Colin Farrell, and also appeared in the films Miracle (2004) and Tennis, Anyone…? ” (2005), “Home of the Giants” (2007), “Blood Honey” (2017), etc.
Along with starring in Star Trek: Discovery (2017-2021), he also appeared in Star Trek: Lower Decks (2020).
His last screen work was in a 2020 episode of Jeff Bridges’ series “The Old Man.”
Mitchell is survived by his wife, Susan May Pratt, their children, Lyla and Callum, his parents, siblings, in-laws, and nieces and nephews.
