Kendrick Lamar is going to the Super Bowl!
The Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper was just announced to perform at the 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show, which will take place on February 9th, 2025 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
Lamar shared the news YouTubeWhile shooting the football from an automated passing machine.
The 37-year-old said: “My name is Kendrick Lamar and I’m going to be performing at Super Bowl 69. Will you come? I hope so. You know you only get one chance to win a championship. There’s no second round.”
“You won’t want to miss it. See you in New Orleans on February 9th, 2025,” he continued. “Even if you’re watching from home, make sure you wear your best dress.”
The Grammy Award winner also statement “Rap music remains the most influential genre of all time, and I’m here to remind the world why: They made the right choice,” he wrote in a People magazine post.
Jay-Z’s Roc Nation helps select the halftime show performers each year, and he told People magazine, “Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer whose deep love of hip hop and culture influences his artistic vision.”
The music mogul praised Kendrick’s “unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally” and said the artist “transcends music.”
This won’t be Lamar’s first time performing at the Super Bowl: in 2022, he joined Dr. Dre’s performance alongside Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and 50 Cent.
