Keith Urban is getting ready to excite his fans with a new album and a new residency at Fontainebleau in Las Vegas!
Extra’s Melvin Robert spoke with Keith about what’s next and talked about his daughters Sunday and Faith, who recently appeared together on the red carpet to celebrate his wife Nicole Kidman’s AFI Lifetime Achievement Award.
When asked how the girls felt to see their mother praised, Keith said, “It makes me very happy.”
He continued, “I was so happy to be able to bring not only my daughters, but my entire family, Nick’s sister and her husband and all of their children.”
Keith “couldn’t put into words” how fatherhood has changed his life. “I continue to look at my parents and what they went through differently, because I think, ‘Oh my God, this is so hard,'” he said. This isn’t easy.” But they did a really good job and I’m very grateful to them. ”
Urban has come a long way from his playing days at the club. He said: “I grew up playing in clubs. I left school at 15 and played in a cover band five nights a week, four hours a night.”
Keith noted that growing up in Brisbane helped prepare him for the spotlight and the attention that comes with it.
“The people there are brutally honest and there’s no covering the surface. I mean, you play a club, you play a few songs, you play someone. [would] They came after us and said, “Did you write that first song we played?” I said, “I wrote that,” and they said, “Holy crap, we’re never going to play that song again.” Don’t play,’” Keith recalled. “There’s something great about growing up that way. Keep it real.”
Urban said he was “ready” to stay, adding, “Actually, I wish it was now. We’ll have to wait until October.”
