Kate Winslet is an advocate for positive body image and recently Said Harper’s Bazaar UK magazine reported that she had no interest in hiding her flabby belly while filming her bikini scene for the movie “Lee.”
In the film, which is due for release in the UK in September, Winslet plays Elizabeth “Lee” Miller, a fashion model and photographer who worked as a war correspondent for Vogue magazine during World War II.
Kate stopped working out before filming the movie in order to look “real flexible” and in line with the era.

Recalling the bikini scene, she said, “There’s a scene where Lea is sitting on a bench in a bikini… and during a break, a crew member came over and said, ‘You need to sit up a bit more’. So you can’t see my belly fat? You can’t! It’s on purpose.”
The 48-year-old actress says she doesn’t feel she needs to look perfect on screen, but rather “quite the opposite.”
“I’m proud of it because my face reflects my life, and that’s what’s important,” the Oscar winner insisted. “I don’t try to hide it.”
Regarding cosmetic surgery, she said: “I don’t think there’s anyone who would say, ‘You should do something about those wrinkles.’ As I get older, I’ve become more comfortable with myself, so I don’t care about other people’s opinions.”
Earlier this year, “Extra’s” Mona Kosar Abdi spoke with Kate about enduring unfair criticism about her appearance after the smash hit “Titanic” in 1997.
She told Mona: “Certainly in the industry and in the media at the time, thankfully, this has changed. [was] “There was so much, so much criticism of young actresses about their appearance, and I was on the receiving end of that in a way that was very unfair. So there were some really difficult moments. So now when I see young actresses who are completely themselves, happy in their bodies, and full of joy in life and in their work, it gives me so much joy.”
In 2022, “Extra” interviewed the Oscar winner about his role as a fearless warrior in the film “Avatar: The Way of Water.”
“We need that. We need female goddess leaders,” Winslet emphasized.
Kate hopes her role will serve as an inspiration to women over 40, saying: “People often think that as women we actually start to slow down at this age. No, we become more feminine, more powerful, more ourselves, sexier, stronger.”
