Kate Middleton has broken her silence about missing the Trooping the Colour event amid her ongoing battle with cancer.

“We’d like to thank all of the corps members participating this year for the many months of practice and the many hours they put in to ensure their uniforms and training are perfect.”
She continued, “It remains a great honor to be your Colonel. I am very disappointed that I will not be able to receive the salute at this year’s Colonel’s Review. Please convey my apologies to the entire regiment. However, I hope to be able to represent you again in the near future.”

Meanwhile, insiders tell Us Weekly: “Kate has thrived to be very involved with her kids. She’s an engaged parent.”
A second source added: “Kate is recovering well. She is sensitive to illness so can’t meet up with many people to avoid getting sick, but she is moving around well.”
The source added that Kate’s team is “re-evaluating what she can take on if she returns,” explaining, “She may not return in the same role that people have seen her in before.”
For now, she’s keeping busy at their summer home, Anmer Hall, with her children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6. Prince William is also currently taking a break from royal duties due to a surprise general election on July 4.
A source said: “The announcement that royals will not be able to work as much as before was unexpected, but it means Kate and William can spend more time together. They have reconnected and are closer than ever.”
