Jon Bon Jovi is releasing a revealing new documentary series and a rockin’ new album aptly titled Legend.
“Extra” caught up with the superstar at SXSW in Austin, Texas, where he premiered “Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story.” The song chronicles the highs and lows of this iconic band’s unprecedented 40-year journey.
He admitted, “If I was going to make a movie this big, I didn’t want it to be a puff movie.”
The four-part documentary also touches on Richie Sambora’s departure from the band mid-tour.
“There is no shield for this project,” Bon Jovi emphasized. “Everyone was showing warts and all.”
John stressed the importance of being “open and honest about everything,” including his fear of surgery to fix his voice.
Bon Jovi’s close friend Bruce Springsteen remained by his side even after the surgery. He said:[Bruce] He has been like a big brother to me throughout my voice surgery journey. It was one of those really comforting voices that said, “We’ve got your back, you’re going to get through this,” and it was healing. ”
John also mentioned the upcoming weddings of his three children.
He commented, “I’m excited for all the kids.”
She added that she has not written a wedding toast “yet” and plans to do it “as instructed.”
