Camille Vasquez defended Johnny Depp and won his case against Amber Heard.
Two and a half years later, high-profile cases from the Menendez brothers to Diddy are being held across the country.
Extra’s Billy Bush sat down with Camille to discuss current events, including George Gascon’s outraged endorsement of Eric and Lyle Menendez and her famous client Johnny Depp.
Camille called Menendez’s recommendation an “interesting” move, adding: “I think we need to go back to the facts here. They ultimately say they committed these murders in self-defense, right? But Self-defense means they were in immediate, not future, danger.”
When Billy brought up allegations of sexual abuse at the hands of his father, Camille said: “It was horrific and the jury should have given it the same evaluation as they did in the first trial.”
Billy predicts that the brothers will walk because their time is up, but Camille replies, “They’re probably right.”
Sean “Diddy” Combs was also in the headlines after his arrest in September on charges of racketeering, conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation for the purpose of prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and his trial is scheduled for May 5, 2025.
“I think rumors have been swirling around Diddy for years,” Vazquez said. “What’s interesting about Depp v. Heard is, to go back a little bit, it was a #MeToo case where no other #MeToo existed. The Diddy case is a #MeToo case with a lot of #MeToo in it.”
The Deppu incident gripped the United States for six weeks in 2022. Camille became a star in the legal world when she defended Deppe opposite Amber Heard.
Camille has also found a following of her own, which she describes as “weird”.
There were even romance rumors swirling between Depp and Vazquez at the time.
Camille found out about the rumor from her parents. She said: “They knew definitively that I was not dating Johnny Depp. I absolutely – for the record, I have never dated Johnny Depp. Johnny I would never date Depp. I think he’s a nice guy…he’s not my type.”
Although the trial is over, Camille and Johnny still keep in touch via “group text.” “I think he’s in Rome right now,” she said.
Vasquez also recalled their first meeting, saying: . ”He definitely uses a different part of his brain. He’s such an artist. ”
Johnny is probably best known for his role as Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, but Camille hasn’t seen the movie yet. “To this day, I’ve never had one,” she admitted. “I never saw him in ‘Pirates.'”
She added: Any film. “Chocolat” perhaps.
