Lady Joanna Lumley is ‘thrilled’ Queen Camilla no longer called queen.
The 76-year-old’s royal title was changed after she and her husband, King Charles, were officially crowned in May, but the Absolutely Fabulous star believes her friend is an “invaluable asset” and a “great sign” for the country.
She told UK’s HELLO! Magazine: “I think she’s going to be a really great queen. She’s thrilled that she’s being called Queen Camilla instead of Queen because that’s her name.”
“And I think Queen Camilla is a great asset, a great name, a great name to add to our great royal tradition.
“And she won people’s hearts even though she was always put in the awkward position of being compared to someone else.”
Joanna praised Camila for always being “a good sport and a lot of fun” at official functions.
she said: She said, “One of the things I love most about her is her enthusiasm. She always puts her heart into what she supports and loves.
“Those who know her know she’s charming, funny, reserved, and not bossy. She puts everyone at ease because she’s good at sports and fun.”
And the veteran actress argued that criticism of Prince Charles and Camilla’s accession to the throne in their 70s is baseless.
“The fact that she and the King came so late to the throne is not a bad thing, because they know the world, they know life, they know people.”
“They have time to nurture their interests and passions and are doing everything they can to make things better. And I think that’s an admirable quality.”
