Jesse Plemons was on a date with wife Kirsten Dunst at the New York premiere of “Kinds of Kindness,” where he chatted with “Extra’s” Mona Kosar.
Reacting to his performance winning the Best Actor award at Cannes, Jesse said: “Obviously I was shocked, surprised and honoured to find out I won. I never even considered the possibility of winning but this award and the way it was decided…it’s incredibly special, but more than anything it’s the experience itself that’s the biggest takeaway.”
He continued, “The first few weeks of rehearsals, I felt like I had no idea what I was doing. But then watching the movie and going through all of this with everybody and having a great time and having a movie that I absolutely love on the other side is the really special part. It was a special experience.”
Jesse also spoke about finally getting to work with director Yorgos Lanthimos. “He’s one of those directors that you want to read a script for, but it doesn’t dictate anything,” the actor said. “There was no way I wasn’t going to work with him… It was a trilogy from the start, so I was incredibly excited and a little scared, but it was fun.”

Plemons said she first met Yorgos before his dramatic transformation and was concerned that the weight loss may have affected his eyesight.
“It’s funny that I was worried about that, but when I first spoke to the director, I hadn’t lost the weight yet, and when I look at the lines in the script, I can see that the character has lost weight. So with any normal director you’d be like, ‘That’s good, that makes sense,’ but with Yorgos I wondered if he wanted me, if he wanted me fat, even though, as I said, the lines show him as skinny. But it was a small thing, and then I asked him about it, and that was it.”
Kinds of Kindness will be released on June 21st.
