On Thursday, Jay Cutler was taken into custody in Franklin, Tennessee, on charges of driving under the influence and possession of a handgun.
Prior to his arrest, Cutler had been involved in a minor collision with another vehicle.
Mr. Cutler was released on $5,000 bail.
According to the obtained arrest affidavit, fox 17Police “noticed Mr. Cutler stumbling, stumbling, and walking with a heavy foot,” and smelled of alcohol, police said.
Officers also said “he had a thick tongue, slurred speech and was mumbling his speech,” but he refused a breathalyzer test and was unable to administer one.
Cutler was then taken to the hospital, where a blood sample was taken after a search warrant was obtained.
Police found two guns, including a loaded handgun, in Cutler’s car.
Cutler was charged with driving under the influence and possession of a handgun while under the influence, as well as failure to use due care to avoid a collision and violation of implied consent.
According to an arrest affidavit, Cutler offered to pay the other driver $2,000 if he didn’t call police.
A trial date is scheduled for January 2025.
