Jamie Lynn Spears has spoken candidly about his public feud with sister Britney Spears and how it affected his teenage daughter.
in a new interview with varietyJamie Lynn said he was “sad” at the thought of the conflict that erupted after his 13-year custody of Britney ended.
“I don’t want my daughter to feel that way. I have to say that I will never forgive my children, especially my oldest daughter, who has had such a huge impact on all of them. I will not allow her to go through this in her life.”
She continued, “My strength comes from my love for my children and my desire not to give way to anything other than what I know to be real and true.
Issues between the sisters have played out on social media in recent years, with Britney blaming her sister for her 2022 memoir, What I Had to Say. When the book came out, Britney sent a cancellation letter to Jamie Lynn and called her “scum” in a now-deleted Instagram post. Britney married six months after the book’s release, but didn’t invite Jamie Lynn to the wedding.
The brothers’ relationship seemed to be improving when Britney shared on Instagram in June that she visited her sister on the set of Zoe 102.
“I had the pleasure of visiting my sister on set last week!!!” Britney wrote on June 20. The faithful girls are at home, but it’s so nice to see the family!!!”
But Jamie Lynn, the mother of two daughters, Maddie, 17, and Ivy, 5, told Variety that she plans to remain private when it comes to her relationship with her family.
“I have nothing but absolute love for my whole family.
She added, “These conversations are personal and should be left alone. Right now all I can focus on is my daughters, my husband and the work I am doing.”
As for whether the production will include a musical collaboration with Britney, Jamie Lynn said he didn’t know.
“I think I’m just focusing on myself and what I’m doing right now,” she said. “I’ve worked hard to be on a show like ‘Sweet Magnolia’ and I’m fighting hard to reclaim my childhood character. My dreams are coming true and it’s all I can think about right now.”
