On Tuesday, Jake Gyllenhaal attended the New York premiere of the reimagined Road House with his parents in tow.
After Extra’s Mona Kosar Abdi talked about losing the iconic role to Christian Bale 20 years ago, we spoke to Jake about his reaction to all the Batman headlines.
“Obviously, we’d all be honored,” Jake said, referring to a recent interviewer who asked him about the possibility of playing Batman in the future.
For “Roadhouse,” Gyllenhaal admitted that it “took months” to prepare for the role, adding, “I needed a great trainer. He literally cooked for me and told me the calories.” “He was a great guy, and we did some physical training.” If there was an injury, it took me and a therapist for the cast…it took a village. ”
He joked that a “bucket of spray tanning” also helped with the transformation.
Jake also talked about how he felt when he cast Conor McGregor in the movie. He explained: “Even though I was so excited, I was scared that I would have to pretend to fight him.”
Gyllenhaal will appear on Broadway next year in “Othello,” co-starring Denzel Washington. He said: “One of the things I love about the process of working on a piece like this is the period of time when you don’t tell anyone about it. It’s your time. Now it’s my time. I get to play and learn and dig deep. Masu.”
He added, “I just can’t wait to do it, but most of all I can’t wait for the process of learning and understanding the words. These words are the most extraordinary words ever written.” he added.
“Roadhouse” will be available on Prime Video starting March 21st.
