NPS manages and preserves more than 400 national park sites nationwide. April 29th is National Junior Ranger Day. Many parks offer programs that allow children to explore, learn and protect. Look for Adventure and Volunteer Opportunities at Local Parks
Here are some of the events and activities you can find at your local park.
Ohio’s Cuyahoga Valley National Park hosts a birdwatching expedition on April 22nd at 8am along the historic Towpath Trail where visitors can look for early spring migratory birds. At 9:00 the next day, the park has a healthy hike where he can choose to walk 3.0 miles or 8.0 miles. Beginning April 29th at 9am, you can join a guided tour to look for and identify wildflowers.

Join a ranger-led wildflower walk or historical hike at 1:00 PM on both days. On April 23rd and 30th, visitors can tour the Chelberg Farm and take part in ranger-led hikes from Miller Woods to the shores of Lake Michigan. The park will also offer birdwatching walks on April 27th at 9am.
of Virginia Shenandoah National Park celebrates Junior Ranger Day on April 22 with a special event. Activities take place at 11:00 AM at the Dickey Ridge Visitor Center and at 10:30 AM, 2:30 AM, and 4:00 AM at the Bird Visitor Center. Kids can join a scavenger hunt and see the park’s fire trucks and search and rescue vehicles.
Utah Zion National Park Ranger talks are held daily at 10am and 2:30pm, and guided ranger walks along the scenic Pa’rus Trail are held daily at 1:30pm. Visitors will discover diverse landscapes as a mostly paved trail follows the Virgin River to Canyon Junction.
Arizona’s petrified forest national park hosts museum demonstration labs from 9am to 3pm every day except Mondays and Tuesdays. Visitors can chat with paleontologists and watch them clean and preserve fossils.
california Redwood National and State Parks We will be hosting a walk in the woods at 2pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Guests can learn about the giant coastal redwoods during guided tours.
