Premiering on September 5, “The Perfect Couple” is the TV adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand’s bestselling novel of the same name. Will there be a season 2 of “Perfect Couple”?
We all know that Tug Wimberly, played by Liev Schreiber, married the very wealthy Greer Garrison Wimberly, played by Kidman. Benji Wimberly, played by Billy Howey, was set to marry Amelia Sachs, played by Eve Hewson, but a murder ruined the wedding. Towards the end of the series, it was revealed that Amelia’s best friend, Merritt Monaco, was murdered by her sister-in-law, Abby Wimberly, played by Dakota Fanning.
So what happened? Netflix has remained silent on the matter since last week’s season premiere, but in March, the streaming service’s Tudum blog announced Benji and Amelia’s wedding. Netflix They also clarified that “Perfect Couple” is a “limited series.”
Just because the show has been so popular doesn’t mean Netflix won’t reconsider and order a second season. In fact, Big Little Lies was initially planned as a limited series. But as the show gained popularity, a second season was greenlit, with the story revolving around a “novella-style bible of these characters’ journeys” that creator Liane Moriarty recently penned. Kidman is one of four lead actresses currently in discussions about a possible third season. A second season could happen in the future, but Kidman is currently busy. That’s never prevented her from adding more seasons, and she’s the only one with the current cast who could make it happen. Perfect Couple hasn’t been renewed by Netflix, so we’ll have to wait a few years to see if that actually happens.
What happened at the end of ‘Perfect Couple’ Season 1?
The sixth episode revealed Merritt’s killer, played by Dakota Fanning as the pregnant Abby Winberry, who poisoned Merritt and killed her underwater in order to receive her husband Thomas’ (Jack Reynor) trust fortune immediately, rather than wait 18 years.
Merritt was romantically involved with Wimberly patriarch Tag (Liev Schreiber) when she discovered she was pregnant. The Wimberly Trust Fund stipulates that when the youngest Wimberly child turns 18, the inheritance is distributed among the sons. Tag and Greer’s youngest son, Will (Sam Nivola), is approaching his 18th birthday. Merritt’s pregnancy means the trust fund will be unavailable for over 20 years. Following her arrest, Abby is taken to prison.

A few minutes before the end credits of “The Perfect Couple” roll, the scene cuts to London, six months after Merritt’s death. Merritt’s fiancée and best friend, Amelia (Eve Hewson), has been discovered by Greer. Amelia has written a book and asked for her approval before publishing it. Despite Greer’s cold attitude towards Amelia on Nantucket, the naturalist eventually won her heart. A call would be appreciated. “I’d be happy to meet you.” “I’m not sure if I’m a good person,” Greer told Amelia. Greer and Amelia’s conversation ended the series on an open note, according to Jenna Lamia, who previously spoke with Amelia.
