American actress Julia Butters, known for her roles in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and The Fabelmans, may be joining Disney’s Freaky Friday Part 2. The Hollywood ReporterDisney announced the long-awaited sequel last year and revealed in March that Nisha Ganatra would be directing.
While Disney has yet to announce the official star cast of the film, fans are hoping to see the return of original film actors Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan.
Freaky Friday producer Andrew Gunn will produce the film alongside former Walt Disney Pictures executive Kristin Burr.
In 2023 interview In an interview with The New York Times, Curtis and Lohan discussed the possibility of a sequel. Curtis said: “When I was touring the world with ‘Halloween Ends,’ people wanted to know if there was going to be another ‘Freaky Friday.’ It really struck a chord with me. When I came back, I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘I think we could make a movie.'”
To further excite fans, Lohan said: “Jamie and I are both on board with that idea, so we’re going to leave it at that. We’ll only make things that people will absolutely love.”

Apart from openly talking about their upcoming plans for Freaky Friday 2, the duo also took to social media to congratulate Ganatra on being tapped to direct the body-swap comedy.
Curtis shared a photo with Lohan. Instagram She tagged Disney in the caption.
Freaky Friday, released in August 2003, was critically acclaimed and is considered one of Hollywood’s cult classics. It grossed $160.8 million worldwide. Notably, it is a remake of the 1977 film starring Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster. Directed by Gary Nelson, the fantasy comedy film is based on Mary Rogers’ 1972 novel of the same name.
