YouTube Boxing turned boxing into a joke. Jake Paul single-handedly made boxing like something made for entertainers and douchebags. Luckily for fight fans, UFC superstar Jorge Masvidal has his young promotion called Gamebred Boxing. In the main event, his OG of the boxing world, Roy Jones Jr., veteran, will take on his MMA veteran, Anthony Pettis. Pettis was able to step into the ring at his home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday, and while he’s still signed to the PFL, this could be the start of the next step in his career. A victory over the ever-class and legendary Jones Jr. will give Pettis plenty of opportunities. He could see a challenge from his YouTube boxing stars like KSI. He can jump straight into the professional world and compete for real belts in real divisions at promotions like TopRank and Showtime Boxing. Whichever direction Masvidal decided he wanted to see this growth, or return to MMA to continue the PFL’s 2023 season. He’s about to play spoilers on Saturday night when Pettis is out in front of his family, teammates and friends. Regardless, this should be a fun night for everyone involved.
To add icing to the cake, now retired UFC Hall of Famer Jose Aldo will face off against Jeremy Stephens, notorious for taking Conor McGregor’s “Who is that guy?” Jose Aldo retired from MMA with a professional record of 31-8 and looked unbeatable until Conor McGregor came along and defeated Aldo. Aldo has always been respected and known for putting up great fights. I think we’ll get the best version for Masvidal and his new promotion on Saturday night.
There are several other fights worth noting. For more information, I highly recommend checking out the podcast I co-host. It emphasizes fighting.
