Indian airline IndiGo is conducting a three-month trial of AirFi’s wireless in-flight entertainment with elements customized for the airline that the airline hopes will prove “a useful tool to enhance the in-flight experience for digital-savvy passengers.”
IndiGo has been trialling the solution on flights between Delhi and Goa since early May. IndiGo’s exclusive additions include two new airline-branded games and a 3D moving map incorporating a treasure hunt. The IFE portal will be available on IndiGo’s mobile app.
The two content partners, Mumbai-based Shermaroo Contentino and California-based West Entertainment, will provide access to a library of more than 200 hours of Indian and Hollywood movies, TV shows, music and games.
Airphi CEO Job Heimerichs described IndiGo as “on an ongoing digitalisation journey” and said the company was “uniquely positioned to help the airline achieve its goal of meeting evolving passenger expectations.”
