A little more than two years ago, on Sunday, January 2, Richmond, Virginia set a new record high temperature of 72 degrees. It was still in the 60’s that night when things suddenly changed.
Cold air had been trapped in the north for weeks, but it all ended at dawn Monday morning. A new storm moved in from North Carolina and began bringing rain to Virginia. The cold air then carried on with a biting northeasterly wind. As a result, an unusual snowstorm occurred.
Usually, when the ground is wet and not particularly cold, snow is less likely to fall. However, higher snowfall rates may overcome these conditions. And that’s exactly what happened. Very warm temperatures led to an amazing amount of snow.
Easter means that there is nothing in our lives that cannot be changed for the better. (Kevin Ferris/Fox News Digital)
About 6 inches of snow fell at my house, while other places not far away got almost a foot of snow. In fact, I had a friend who was stranded for almost 24 hours when a fast-moving storm closed 80 miles of Interstate 95 between Richmond and Washington, DC. All as a result of the sudden change in weather patterns from the previous week.
Easter reminds Christians how the Resurrection resonates with our past, present, and future
I never expected it to snow that warm Sunday night, and I never expected it to snow so much the next day.
Sudden changes can occur in life. Your life can change for the better in just a few days. It is unlikely that a change of 40 degrees will benefit you. A good break can turn your life around.
David experienced this about 3,000 years ago. Although he was an anointed king, he did not become king of Israel. He waited for 13 years, but suddenly things changed. But first he suffered his greatest defeat.
Easter is the day God reminds us of this one thing that changes lives.
While David was fighting with his army, the Amalekites attacked Ziklag, where David lived, and burned it to the ground. Then they took away all the women and children. When David and his men return, they find that their family has been taken. His men were very upset and tried to kill David.
However, God instructed David to visit an Amalekite servant who was left behind on his journey due to illness. He led David to the Amalekites, and his army attacked at sunrise. They rescued the family. No one was lost. And they brought back everything that was stolen.
The next day, King Saul died in battle. David went to Hebron and became king. In just three days, David’s life radically changed for the better. His crushing defeat turned into a victory. And after waiting for 13 years, he finally became king.
Easter symbols help reveal the true meaning of the season, Christian writer says
Easter is the ultimate example of how powerful, positive change can occur in just three days.
On Friday, Jesus was unjustly sentenced to death. He was scourged and beaten and a crown of thorns was forced on his head. Then Jesus was crucified on the cross. This is the most detestable and cursed form of death. He suffered greatly and died in agony.
He died not because of the evil he had committed, but because of all the evil that mankind had committed. Jesus took the punishment for all sins. past, present and future. Jesus was perfect and yet he became imperfect; there was no sin but he became sin. His death on the cross provided the path to salvation.

And on Sunday he rose from the dead, proving his victory over death and sin. Now we can be forgiven for our sins by accepting Jesus’ sacrifice and believing in the victory of his resurrection. Our imperfections are replaced by the perfections of Jesus, and we enter into a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
In just three days, a disastrous defeat became a miraculous victory. Easter means that there is nothing in our lives that cannot be changed for the better. God revives broken dreams, repairs broken relationships, and heals broken bodies.
Perhaps you, too, have experienced more disappointment and heartache than I have. For too long, nothing has gone well. You have almost lost hope that things can change for the better.
