Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minnesota, attacked Israel’s response to the unprecedented attack by Hamas in an extensive thread on social media on Monday.
Omar, a longtime critic of Israel and defender of Palestinians, has equated the Israeli victims killed by Hamas terrorists this weekend with the Palestinians killed in the ongoing Israeli response. It seems so. “Just as we respect the humanity of the hundreds of innocent Israeli civilians and nine Americans who were killed this weekend, we respect the humanity of the innocent Palestinian civilians whose lives were destroyed and whose lives were upended.” We must respect sexuality,” she wrote.
Omar went on to highlight the hardships of life in Gaza and accused Israel of running an “apartheid” state in an attempt to explain away the violence by Hamas.
“Palestinian residents of the West Bank live a better life than Gazans, with their ancestral homes routinely destroyed, crops destroyed, and violent attacks by Israeli settlers commonplace. We are getting very little,” Omar wrote on Platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Palestinians have few avenues for justice and accountability. Attacks against Palestinians by the IDF and settlers routinely meet with impunity. Efforts to seek justice in international tribunals have been supported by the United States. “They are being obstructed by the Israeli government,” she added. “As the world condemns Hamas’ attacks, we must also oppose Israeli military actions that have already claimed the lives of hundreds of Palestinians, including nearly 20 children.”
Omar’s office did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for further details on this thread.
The lawmaker did not say how he thought Israel should have responded to Saturday’s attack, which killed at least 1,000 Israelis and injured another 2,700. The Minnesota Democratic Party’s only proposal for “a solution to this horror” was “a negotiated peace in which Israelis and Palestinians enjoy equal rights and security.”
Later in the thread, Omar claimed that Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant referred to all Palestinians as “human animals” in comments earlier this week, but the full statement only referred to Hamas terrorists. It became clear.

“We have complete siege in Gaza. There will be no electricity, no food, no water, no fuel. Everything will be shut down,” Gallant said. “We are fighting the human animal, so we will act accordingly.”
