Like most mothers around the world, I never thought I would have much in common with Kate, Duchess Kate. She is one of the most beautiful women in the world, with her high education and also with her athletic ability. Even though she was born far from the halls of Buckingham Palace, she has deftly navigated being a real-life princess.
But her recent announcement proves that Kate and I have at least one thing in common. That means facing cancer together with young children.
In the summer of 2022, I had a routine appendectomy. The surgery was a success, and it seemed like life was back to normal, until doctors told him they had found a cancerous tumor in his appendix.

However, her silence gave rise to salacious rumors on social media and in the press. “Where’s Kate Middleton?” became a meme. There were also rumors that her husband was having an affair.
Duchess Kate, one of the most public figures of our time, struck a playful pose for the international press at a time when she would probably have been taking a nap after giving birth. . It wasn’t easy to spread rumors like this, but she made the right decision to put her family first.
And it’s also a lesson for all of us when we feel our lives manifesting.

It may not have been easy, but Kate remained steadfast despite the immense pressure to come out of seclusion. She and Prince William stuck to their decision to tell her children and get them used to their new reality before the outside world began.
My husband and I were equally at peace until we realized what we were dealing with. We can imagine that Kate and William are just as supportive of each other as we are.
When Kate actually went public, it was on her terms. No one asked me to explain things like Kate did. Our children do not yet know about this diagnosis, and I only told my employer when writing this article. Kate released a two-minute video in which she laid out her diagnosis, an explanation of why she had been out of public view, and a request for privacy.

In addition to these wise considerations, perhaps most importantly, Kate spoke from the heart. She wore minimal makeup and a normal-looking sweater instead of royal formal wear, and spoke about something all parents can relate to: protecting their children.

My cancer journey began and ended with a few tests and the relief of a doctor telling me it was cancer-free. But almost two years later, it still pops into my head frequently. I can only imagine what Duchess Kate is going through in the midst of chemotherapy, not just as a royal, but as a mother.
Like many people, I post fun and happy photos of my kids and family on social media. It’s easy for people not to realize that my husband and I have had some personal struggles since my diagnosis, or that, in Duchess Kate’s case, she has problems taking off her royal slippers and elegant clothing. But no disease does more than cancer to strip away that artificiality and remind us that behind the perfectly polished social media brands and glossy titles are real people facing private challenges.
