“My husband is usually a great husband and father, but right now he’s so frustrated. I don’t think he’s ever been this angry. I woke up around 8:30 this morning to the sound of our kids running around. I woke up right away because I knew they would want to open their Christmas presents.
“I have trouble sleeping for various reasons, so my husband puts me to bed every morning and watches the kids until I wake up naturally or until I get up and help get them ready. I’ll be alone with them for 30 minutes to an hour. He knows what time to wake me up if I oversleep.”
“So I walked into the living room and there was wrapping paper everywhere. All the presents were already unwrapped and the kids (ages 5 and 7) were playing with them. I immediately I started crying and went back to my bedroom, where my sadness turned to anger and I started screaming like crazy. I’m so angry.
I spend so much time thinking about what to give my children, ordering it, driving to stores, wrapping it, and the joy of seeing the children’s faces when they open the box. I feel like I was completely robbed. Presents are one of the best parts of Christmas. My husband said he videotaped it. I yelled why I couldn’t let the kids wait or they could have just come and woke me up.
He just said, “You never wake me up in the morning,” and I said, “Christmas morning is crap.” You wouldn’t want me to see kids unwrapping presents.’ And I called him an asshole. ”
She concluded her post by writing: “He just said he was sorry, he didn’t say I overreacted. I’m really hurt right now and don’t know how to get over it. I don’t feel like doing anything Christmas-y today. . I’m very disappointed in everyone.”
Redditors had a wide range of opinions, and many offered solid suggestions on how to change the way you spend your Christmas mornings in the future to avoid similar situations.

“When I told the kids about opening their presents, my older one apologized for not waiting for me, but he was so excited that he had to open them right away. I told him , I said that’s okay, but I might do it differently next time,” she wrote, adding, “And we… are already planning for next year. My children always receive one gift from Santa and the rest are from us or from our family and friends. It will be placed at the bottom and you can open it whenever you like. The remaining gifts will not appear until everyone has arrived.
“Thank you everyone for your well thought out comments. Some were harsh, weird and downright rude, but I appreciate all the kind words I received. Make the world a better place. There are still people who are trying.”
