Some of us were shocked to find that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis seemed to be morphing into the man she was prosecuting in Georgia. In a mocking and combative testimony on February 15, Willis slammed the media, his lawyers and much of the public for questioning the ethics of hiring his ex-girlfriend as lead prosecutor. While former President Donald Trump was roundly criticized for such testimony in court, Willis was praised by many for showing himself to be a “great lawyer” and defender of justice.
Now, Hunter Biden also seems to be totally slamming Trump in court, but no one seems to notice. In a series of motions, Hunter is seeking to dismiss the charges in the two states. But his argument is surprisingly familiar.
He is challenging the appointment of a special prosecutor, alleging selective prosecution and strategic leaks as grounds for quashing all pending indictments. The motion was ripped from the pages of Trump’s dissent, which was widely condemned by the media. no longer.
Lawyer Hunter Biden says cellphone photo showed sawdust, not cocaine: ‘The prosecution is completely wrong’
Mr. Hunter filed nine separate motions in quick succession seeking to have the charges dismissed. His arguments included challenging the authority of Special Counsel David Weiss, saying he was improperly appointed. “This prosecution is not legally authorized because David Weiss was illegally appointed as special counsel and Congress has not appropriated funds for the special counsel’s investigation or this prosecution,” Hunter said. claims.
He argued that Justice Department rules direct the attorney general to appoint special prosecutors from outside the government, but Weiss worked as a U.S. attorney for Delaware.
Mr. Trump’s recent appeal in Washington also argued that special counsel Jack Smith’s work was unconstitutional, but the challenge was based on the lack of an enabling statute.
Mr. Hunter also alleges that the Justice Department bowed to political pressure and targeted him despite selective prosecution and a lack of criminal evidence. Like Trump, Hunter argues that the leaks show the Justice Department’s bias and hostility toward him.

At the same time, Hunter is pursuing an underlying challenge to gun control that his father championed as strengthening gun control laws. Worst for many on the left, Hunter would adopt the argument of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and other gun rights groups that these laws are unconstitutional under the Second Amendment.
Hunter is pursuing the Bruen v. New York Rifle and Pistol Association claim denounced by his father. He argues that the requirement to not be an actual drug addict violates Second Amendment history and tradition.
If Hunter Biden presses forward with these claims, he could face opposition from the Biden administration in court seeking expanded Second Amendment protections. But if successful, Biden would be the first to be honored by the NRA.
Mr. Hunter also employs one of Mr. Trump’s most critical tactics: attacking whistleblowers who have come forward with allegations against Mr. Trump. While President Trump attacked whistleblowers over the Ukraine controversy, Hunter attacked Internal Revenue Service whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler.

Of course, adopting the same arguments and rhetoric as Trump does not make you Trump. That seems to be the crucial difference for many in the media, as it was for Willis. These arguments have been dispassionately analyzed on media platforms, and Trump’s previous arguments have been flatly rejected.
The only thing left to do is declare that Hunter is just trying to make America great again by overriding independent legal counsel and expanding the Second Amendment. In fact, it could be the beginning of the Biden MAGA movement.
