The man-made beach is located at 1400 N. Sacramento Ave. When the beach is open, lifeguards are on duty from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
“We are excited to welcome Humboldt Park and the surrounding community back to Chicago’s only inland beach,” said Chicago Parks Commissioner and CEO Rosa Escareno. “Thanks to our wildly successful seven-month ‘Your Dream Summer Job’ recruiting campaign that enabled us to staff Humboldt Park Beach lifeguards, we are confident that our lifeguard shortage has been resolved and our beaches and pools will be fully staffed and open for swimming all summer long.”

The beach was closed four years ago due to the high cost of maintaining it. The park service said it has removed vegetation from the water and prepared the sand for reopening, and will regularly test water quality. Swimming safety at Chicago beaches is City website.
The park service’s beach reopening announcement included the following:
“Because Humboldt Park Beach is Chicago’s only inland beach and not a naturally formed body of water, it requires special care to keep it clean and accessible. The Park District encourages visitors to:
- “Please dispose of your rubbish in the designated containers.
- “Refrain from feeding the birds,
- “We dressed small children in waterproof swimming trunks,
- “Please keep your dog out of the water and the beach.”
