Huawei announced on Monday that it plans to hold a product launch event this month, just hours away. appleThe annual iPhone launch comes as the Chinese tech giant seeks to outdo its American rivals.
Huawei announced in a post on Weibo, a Chinese X-like service, on Monday that the event will be held at 2:30 pm Beijing time on September 10.
The timing is expected to be late on the evening of September 9th on the US West Coast, where Apple’s event is scheduled to take place.
Apple is expected to unveil its iPhone 16 lineup on the morning of September 9th at an event titled “It’s Glowtime.”
It’s unclear what Huawei plans to announce at the event. Richard Yu, head of Huawei’s consumer and automotive technology group, said the company’s “pioneering, innovative and disruptive products will be here,” according to a Google translation of a Weibo post on Monday.
“This is a breakthrough product that others have thought of but not been able to build,” Yu said.
The executive added that after five years of investment, Huawei has “turned science fiction into reality.”
