Although there are ways to add some personal flair to your emails, emails can feel stiff and formal. Most people already do this from their desktop email browser.
You can also do this from iPhone or iPad Mail instead of using the default “Sent from my iPhone” or “Sent from my iPad” signatures.
Be sure to update your iOS software to the latest software before performing these steps.
How to set up a personal signature on your iPhone or iPad

- Tap Post Click again in the upper left corner to save your changes.
How to add formatting to your signature
With iOS email signatures, you can change the basics of your text, such as bold, italic, and underline. However, you cannot change the colors, fonts, or font sizes, or add images. There is a way around this, and I’ll show you how to do it.
You can create a sign-off signature or name and phone number to use on all your messages. The example below creates a bold signature that includes a phone number.
- To create a newly formatted signature, on your iOS device, Create a new message first
- As an option in your signature, you can include
It could be your name and phone number or something as simple as a sign off. [insert name]” - your name and phone number
- Or, “Thank you. [insert name]”
- double tap text to move Blue selector line for selecting entire text phrases
- A prompt appears above the text. Cut | Copy | Paste followed by arrow
- click the arrow until you see the word format
- click format and click bold again italic again Underline (We will style it according to your wishes)
- Click the body of the text again until appears. Cut | Copy | Paste you will be prompted
- press copy
- return to signature edit box in the settings app (Settings > Mail > Signature) (see instructions above)
- If you already have a default signatureerase
- one or more signature box and choose Paste it into the prompt that appears above the box.
- Tap < Mail Click again on the top left corner to save changes
- Open an email from the account you added your signature to
- A formatted signature is displayed.
