Building a strong, flexible “digital core” that brings together cloud, data and AI technologies and serves as the foundation of an interconnected enterprise is key to future growth. It is a means to drive greater efficiency and effectiveness in current business while remaining flexible enough to adapt to new organizational needs and rapidly adopt and scale the latest technology innovations. In a new Accenture study of more than 1,500 large global companies across a range of industries, companies that built a reinvented digital core achieved what researchers call the “60:40 effect.” Compared to the sample baseline, these leaders saw a 60% acceleration in revenue growth (from an average of 7.1% to 11.1%) and a 40% increase in profitability (from an average of 14.2% to 19.4 percentage points). Researchers found that the pandemic and the explosion of AI generations have significantly increased the importance of the digital core. Across industries, the strategic shift toward continuous reinvention is creating an urgent need for a digital core that enhances machines, humans and the interactions between them in radically new ways.
