SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A recent national survey asked Americans how much salary they need to live a comfortable life.
In Bankrate researchOn average, Americans feel they need an income of roughly $186,000 to live a financially comfortable and stable life. This figure varies widely depending on where you live in the U.S., with the coasts being the most expensive and the South and Midwest being the most affordable.
“When you look at the actual economic situation, it seems about right. It depends on your age, but when you have to provide for your family, you want to have security,” said Ramon Ramos of Westfield.
The survey, conducted across a range of demographics, found that men feel they need more money than women, and white Americans feel they need much less money than black Americans.
Massachusetts topped the list compiled from the data, but this time, number one isn’t the best: Massachusetts turned out to be the most expensive state, with an average salary of just over $116,000 needed to be financially stable.
