TikTok user Light Magician Girl (@lightmagiciangirl) posted a video from her job at Target on Saturday. Apparently one of her jobs is to track down and dispose of old shoes that people exchange for new shoes in the shoe department.
It’s not a glamorous job, but Light Magician Girl (LMG) doesn’t let that phase her. In fact, she turns this exercise into something of a game show. And on that game show, she had (free) customers rate the quality of the products they were left with. “Please rate the shoes people traded and left for me today,” she wrote in the on-screen caption.
What does she think of old shoes?
Remember Hilary Duff’s “What Dreams Are Made Of”?
The first pair of shoes are black flip-flops that were obviously worn for a while before someone got rid of them. “5/10,” writes Light Magician Girl. “It’s not terrible. The footprint just tied it together.”
Behind it are worn-out sneakers. “10/10,” LMG wrote. “I hope you walk away with some good stuff. You needed those, girl.”
Next up are black plastic geta. It looks like it has been used for many miles, but the bottom is worn. “0/10,” says LMG. “Horrible. I really hated every circle. I’m glad you left them behind.”
Unfortunately, the last contestant wore a pair of black sandals with stains on the straps. How do you rate LMG? “2/10. I only found one. Is she coming back today to leave the other one for me?”

This is not an entirely new method of theft. reddit user Posted A few years ago, I happened to find a pair of shoes. In the comments, users told us all sorts of stories about finding discarded shoes while shoe shopping.
