Baker’s father died when she was a child, and sitting in the theater, she realized she hadn’t fully recovered. “I was only 6 years old, mourning the death of my father, joyless, pretending to show others how ‘strong’ I was,” she said. “That realization was an eye-opening and healing moment for me.”
