It was a great morning for Beyoncé and Taylor Swift as the 2025 Grammy nominations were announced.
Country Queen B reigned supreme with the most nominations, receiving 11 nominations.
The new nominations make her the most nominated artist in Grammy history.
She currently has 99 nominations throughout her career. She previously competed for the title with her husband JAY-Z!
Beyoncé is also the most decorated Grammy Award winner with 32 wins. Her album “Cowboy Carter” could also win Album of the Year. Bey has never won the coveted award.
Taylor was nominated for Album of the Year for “The Tortured Poets Division,” one of her six nominations. This is a record-breaking move for Swift, making her the most nominated female artist in the category, surpassing Barbra Streisand and her six nominations.
Melvin Robert of “Extra” spoke with Variety’s Chris Willman about this year’s nominations.
He said, “I really can’t choose between Beyoncé and Taylor for Album of the Year. Taylor has won four times, including last year, so no one can say, ‘She got rejected, she missed the deadline.’ And that’s exactly what they’re going to say about Beyoncé.”
He added: “I think the dark horse that has emerged is Chapel Lawn, whose albums just keep growing and growing.”
Willman also believes Kendrick Lamar or Sabrina Carpenter could win Record of the Year.
What about Best New Artist?
Willman said, “I think this is an opportunity for Chapel Lawn. I think she’s unbeatable there.”
