Major Bay Area hotels near the airport will be closed.
A Hilton spokesperson confirmed to SFGATE that the hotel’s owners have decided to close the Oakland location, with the store officially closing on Aug. 28. The company said some employees may be able to transfer to other Hilton locations.

Last year, Park Hotels & Resorts sold two of San Francisco’s largest hotels, the Hilton San Francisco Union Square and Parc 55, after failing to repay loans. The real estate investment trust company sold the properties, citing the “best interest” of shareholders as San Francisco’s tourism market recovers from the pandemic.
Park Hotels & Resorts spokesman Ian Weissman said he could not comment on the latest closures in Auckland.
Speculation about the hotel’s closure began several months ago. KTVU-TV reported.When asked about this in March, Hilton said it planned to remain open.
It was unclear whether Oakland’s hotels were closed because of low revenue, but officials said the hospitality market was struggling to return to pre-pandemic activity levels.
“We understand that the hospitality industry continues to be heavily impacted by post-pandemic economic trends, and as the owner of the property, the Port Authority will continue to explore how to best utilize the site going forward,” the Port of Oakland said in a statement to SFGATE.
