The PGA Tour is back in Texas, this time at TPC Craig Ranch for the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.
Many of the top players will soon be on vacation before their busy summer schedules begin, with marquee events and major championships coming up in two weeks.
This left room for many firsts. Canadians Taylor Pendrith and Ben Coles both battled late for their first PGA Tour wins. Coles held his one-stroke lead heading into the 72nd hole, a par-5. Then he did something that no one else did that day. That means he hit a bogey. When Pendrith two-putted from 40 feet, he not only erased a one-stroke deficit, but shot a final-round 67 to take the win.
With his win, Pendrith pocketed $1.71 million out of a total of $9.5 million. Devastated, Corles takes home $1.035 million.
The tour will host two marquee events next week: the Wells Fargo Championship and the Myrtle Beach Classic. Next week is the PGA Championship.
