On Thursday, Helen Mirren received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 37th American Cinematheque Awards.
Extra’s Terry Seymour spoke to Helen about the honor and cutscenes from the hit movie Barbie.
Calling the American Cinematheque Awards “a huge honor,” she continued, “It’s amazing to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. As complex and historic as the American film industry is, It’s great to be embraced by such a culturally important industry.”
The funny “Barbie” scene where she argues with Olivia Colman didn’t make it into the final cut, but Mirren commented: It was a funny scene that we shot for Barbie, and it probably got cut, understandably. ”
As well as raving about Olivia, Helen also praised her 1923 co-star Harrison Ford, after previously confessing that she was “looking forward to” getting into bed with him in the movie. He called him “the most polite gentleman.”
Although Helen was praised for her contributions to acting, she could not choose a favorite role.
She explained: She says, “It’s similar to when a mother is asked, “Who is your favorite child?” She doesn’t have a favorite. All of them are very special. ”
Reflecting on her role, Mirren added: “They all happened at different times in my life. Some of them were more difficult than others…It’s the sum total of my life.”
Helen also shared her thoughts on not winning one more award to reach EGOT status. She said, “I have to win a Grammy somehow… for spoken word.” [record] perhaps. “
