When rumors first broke that Joe Biden would be interviewing Howard Stern live on Friday’s Sirius It was absolutely guaranteed to be a ball session. Biden’s approval ratings on important issues are lower than any president since Jimmy Carter.
And in that regard, Stern has delivered, and then some.
In what can only be described as the best PR a person in power could hope for, the host went out of his way to repeatedly praise Biden for things like “vaccine rollout” after the coronavirus pandemic (that was Trump). Stern also claimed that Biden has “cut emissions in half” (no, he hasn’t). The former shock jock turned Democratic activist also falsely accused Republicans of being “pro-Putin” simply because some wanted to provide U.S. border funding to accompany aid to Ukraine. And while Biden claimed (again) that he was arrested for standing on a porch with a black family when he was young, a claim that was completely debunked, Stern remained silent. Ta.
Biden and Howard Stern live interview
But that doesn’t mean there weren’t some laugh-out-loud moments, albeit unintentional. Take the moment about halfway through the hour-long interview when Biden claimed that women had sent him “very lewd photos.” After he was elected to the Senate in the 1970s. The president claimed to have provided the photo to the Secret Service. He knows as any community access station host knows that senators don’t have Secret Service protection, and it’s hard to believe that Biden, a freshman senator from Delaware, was some kind of sex symbol. Anyway, that part of the interview was absolutely Funny, just like when Biden once claimed to be the David Hasselhoff of the Elvis era he claimed to have saved. Six I make a living working as a lifeguard at a local community pool.
And what would a Joe Biden interview be without sharing with others how many miles he flew? Normally, in such situations, Mr. Biden would trumpet the story of having flown more than 17,000 miles with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Numerous fact-finding studies refute this claim. Instead, Biden raised the bar in his interview with Stern by reminiscing about John McCain when the late Arizona senator was a Senate aide.
Biden tells Howard Stern he’d be ‘delighted’ to debate Trump
“We flew 100,000 miles together,” Biden claimed.
To achieve such distance, Biden and McCain would have had to fly around the world together more than four times.
Biden changes Marine One walking habits, now often surrounded by aides: Report
The only newsworthy item that emerged from the interview was that Biden said he would discuss Trump at some point. Until this point, neither the White House nor the president had confirmed their intentions.
At another point, Biden promised that if re-elected, he would overturn the Supreme Court’s 2022 Roe v. Wade decision, which sent abortion issues back to the states. Biden made a similar promise during his State of the Union address in March, saying he would sign legislation that would re-legalize abortion in all 50 states if given a Democratic-led Congress.

My column predicted how this interview would go, and it came true almost exactly. I suspect Mr. Stern will focus on how horrible he believes Mr. Trump is (and indeed does) while bringing up abortion as the only major domestic issue brought up during the conversation. I wrote (also correct in this aspect). I also predicted that the border crisis would be ignored (which it was), that violent crime in major cities would be ignored (which it was), and that Mr. Stern wouldn’t say anything about the economy ( (He only talked about low unemployment and did not mention inflation.)
All in all, both men got exactly what they wanted. Mr. Stern proved he could kiss ass on a Colbert/Kimmel/Myers level while impressing his A-list celebrity friends in the Hamptons, while Mr. Biden was a family-loving, sympathetic He made an impression as a person. .

But don’t expect a solo press conference with real questions or follow-up questions asked by journalists who are still concerned about holding those in power accountable.
It’s a real shame that only hand-picked lackeys like the once-great Howard Stern have access to this president.
