Extra caught up with the band at the 2015 American Music Awards, where Harry said of the hiatus, “I think the idea of a hiatus is to not put any limitations on ourselves, and when we feel like we’re ready and want to do something, I think we’ll definitely do it.”
Niall added: “It’s going to be a shock to the body. We’ve been doing this every day for the last five years, it’s been our life and to not do it for a while will feel weird.”
Liam insisted they planned to continue seeing each other, saying: “We’re going to miss each other. We’ve shared five amazing years and experiences that no one else could have shared.”
In 2018, Extra interviewed Cowell about a possible One Direction reunion, and he said at the time, “I mean, why not? I really hope so.” [happen]But they have to make that decision themselves. But that would be great.”
Last year, Styles paid tribute to his bandmate when he accepted the Artist of the Year award at the 2023 Brit Awards.
He told the crowd: “I want to thank my mum for signing me up for The X Factor without telling me. I wouldn’t be here without you guys. I also want to thank Niall, Louis, Liam and Zayn. I wouldn’t be here without you guys. Thank you so much.”
