Democratic Party The two women who were under consideration as potential running mates for Vice President Kamala Harris praised Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s selection shortly after it was announced on Tuesday.
The positive comments came after some Republicans who supported former President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign suggested on social media that Walz’s selection would damage Democrats’ hopes of retaining the White House.
It also shows that Democrats who may be disappointed at not being selected as the nominee are prioritizing party unity over personal feelings.
“Tim Walz has been an incredibly effective governor and great to work with.” Transportation facilities Secretary of State Pete Buttigieg wrote on the social media site X:

“I am excited to see what his Midwestern voice, military experience and common sense values will bring to our winning candidate and what a Harris-Waltz Administration will bring to the American people,” Buttigieg said.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, a key battleground in Harris’ presidential campaign, said, “I am a fervent supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris and I am confident that Governor Tim Walz will join the slate of candidates who will help her move our country forward.”
“I look forward to traveling across the state to unite Pennsylvanians behind Kamala Harris’ campaign to defeat Donald Trump, become the 47th President of the United States, and build a better future for our country,” Shapiro said in a statement.
The trip is expected to begin Tuesday afternoon, with Shapiro set to join Harris and Walz at a rally in Philadelphia, marking the vice president’s first public appearance with Walz as his running mate.
“VP Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz will lead us forward,” Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly wrote on Twitter.
“They are already gearing up for a campaign to unite our country, and @GabbyGiffords and I are ready to do everything in our power to help them win,” Kelly wrote, referring to his wife, a former congresswoman from Arizona.
“I am honored to have been considered in this process, but… Tim Waltz A great friend and a great choice.”
“I fully support this new candidate and will work hard to get him elected. Kamala Harris As the next President of the United States.”
