A massive $2 billion theme park and entertainment complex, rivaling the size of Disneyland, will soon be built in Oklahoma, a state not usually associated with big theme parks.
American Heartland, which boasts an “Americana”-themed environment, will include a 125-acre theme park and a massive RV park as part of a 1,000-acre development along Route 66 in Grand Lake West, according to sources. news release From the Mansion Entertainment Group, which leads the project. The theme park is located near the town of Vinita, about 105 miles northeast of Tulsa.
In addition to rides and family attractions, the destination also features live shows, waterways, and restaurant-quality food and beverage offerings. With six “distinct American lands,” the Great Plains, Bayou Bay, Big Timber Falls, Stony Point Harbor, Liberty Village and Electropolis, the park welcomes visitors to “journey through the best of American stories,” according to leaders.
Visitors can stay at the adjacent Three Pony RV and campground. This RV and campground will consist of an estimated 750 he RV spaces and 300 cabins, making it the largest campground in the central United States. Construction will be phased, with the RV park and cabins set to open in the spring of 2025 as the first phase.
The 300-room hotel and modern indoor water park won’t open until next year. Once construction is complete, more than two million out-of-state tourists are expected to visit Oklahoma each year, according to a news release.
“American Heartland will be a place where families can come together to create lasting memories and experience joy, laughter, imagination and wonder,” said Gene Bicknell, Founder and Chief Creative Officer of American Heartland, in a release. “Our country has so much to celebrate: its landscape, its culture, and most importantly its people. No matter where you come from, you will feel right at home in the American Heartland.”
Proponents of the project claim it will improve Oklahoma’s tourism relations, among other things by creating more than 4,000 jobs and attracting new businesses to the state and surrounding areas.
Christy Adams, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Mansion Entertainment Group, said the theme park and resort could become a main attraction on Route 66.
“The scale and quality of development will be unlike any other city in the region, making Vinita, Oklahoma a must-see destination for families around the world,” she added.
