On Monday, a 55-pound rabid beaver attacked a girl swimming in a nearby lake in Gainesville, Georgia. The Associated Press reported.
The incident happened after 4:00 pm Lake Lanierabout 80 miles northeast of Atlanta.
According to Hall County Animal ControlA girl was bitten on the leg by a beaver while swimming in private Lake Lanier. Her father intervened and used her blunt weapon to kill her beaver.
Authorities said there was no evidence of baby beavers in the area, suggesting the attacking beaver was trying to defend itself. They classified the animal as “just an angry beaver.”
Bieber was taken to a state lab for rabies testing, and the girl was taken to a nearby hospital.
Doctors at the Georgia Institute of Public Health said the beaver was diagnosed with rabies. Information was obtained on the condition of the girl.
County officials are also asking animal owners to ensure their pets are vaccinated against rabies.
