A few months ago, “General Hospital” star Tyler Christopher passed away at the age of 50.
Now, sad details have been released about his sudden death.
According to the Medical Examiner’s Office report, obtained by According to TMZ, Christopher’s cause of death was determined to be postural asphyxiation due to acute alcohol intoxication.
Coronary atherosclerosis has been cited as a contributing factor.
His death was ruled accidental.
In October, TMZ reported that a friend of Tyler’s found him dead in his San Diego apartment and called 911.
It was Tyler’s General Hospital co-star Maurice Benard who broke the sad news about Tyler’s death.
At the time, Benard wrote on Instagram: “It is with great sadness that we share the news of Tyler Christopher’s passing. Tyler passed away this morning from a heart attack in his San Diego apartment.
“Tyler was a truly talented individual who lit up the screen in every scene he played and enjoyed bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting.Tyler was a kind-hearted person and a great friend to all who knew him. “I did,” Maurice continued.
“Tyler is an advocate for better mental health and substance use treatment and has spoken openly about his struggles with bipolar depression and alcohol. We are devastated by the loss of a close friend and his I am praying for you and your father.”
Christopher’s death came just months after he was arrested for public intoxication at Los Angeles’ Burbank Airport.
In 2019, he was arrested for public intoxication after falling asleep in the back seat of an Uber. He pleaded guilty to two counts of public intoxication.
Christopher played Nicholas Cassadine on “General Hospital” for 10 years until 2016. He also played Stefan DiMera on ‘Day of Our Lives’ from 2018 to 2019.
