“General Hospital” actor Tyler Christopher has died at the age of 50.
On Tuesday, co-star Maurice Benard announced the sad news on Instagram.
he I have written“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Tyler Christopher has passed away.” Tyler passed away this morning from a heart attack in his San Diego apartment.
“Tyler was a truly talented individual who lit up the screen in every scene he performed and enjoyed bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting.Tyler was a kindhearted person and a great friend to all who knew him. “I did,” Maurice continued.
“Tyler is an advocate for better mental health and substance use treatment and has spoken openly about his struggles with bipolar depression and alcohol. We are devastated by the loss of a close friend and his I am praying for you and your father.”
Christopher’s death came just months after he was arrested for public intoxication at Los Angeles’ Burbank Airport.
In 2019, he was arrested for public intoxication after falling asleep in the back seat of an Uber. He pleaded guilty to two counts of public intoxication.
Christopher played Nicholas Cassadine on “General Hospital” for 10 years until 2016. He also played Stefan DiMera on ‘Day of Our Lives’ from 2018 to 2019.
Just two weeks ago, Christopher mourned the death of his General Hospital co-star Jacquelyn Zeman.
He wrote on Instagram: “What a beautiful soul will be sorely missed on this earth. Jackie was one of my first mentors on General Hospital. She had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. She was a warm woman. She accepted life. A sad day.”
Tyler is survived by two children, Graythan James Christopher and Boheme Christopher.
