The Garmin ECG app allows users to check for signs of atrial fibrillation and share each recording as a PDF with their doctor. This makes Randy Houser feel more in control of his condition.
As a longtime fan and authorized dealer of Garmin products, Randy Houser has come to expect a wide range of features from a fitness and wellness smartwatch. But he never imagined that his new epix™ Pro (Gen 2) watch would work in conjunction with an app that alerts him to a potentially dangerous heart condition known as atrial fibrillation. .1, or atrial fibrillation. Thanks to the Garmin ECG app and its ability to detect her AFib, Hauser said she was able to stay one step ahead of her symptoms.
Why was the ECG app valuable to Houser? In multiple ECG recordings, the ECG app detected signs of AFib. AFib is an irregular heart rhythm that occurs when the upper and lower parts of the heart beat out of sync. Hauser started feeling dizzy and tight in his chest while running or riding his bike. He used his ECG app to record his heart rhythm when he experienced an episode. Hauser recalled his first AFib results when training for the California International Marathon.
“I was feeling fine until I started feeling dizzy. I checked my watch and my heart rate was really high, so I stopped and started walking,” he said. “When I got back to the truck, I sat down and tried the EKG app. Sure enough, the results showed the presence of AFib. I synced the results using the Garmin Connect™ app on my smartphone. What’s nice is that you can save ECG recordings as PDFs. I often bike with my doctor, so I texted him about it and he said, “Oh my god.” . He was surprised by the results because I had blood tests and tests done and nothing came out. I only seem to get AFib when I’m physically active. ”
Hauser says being able to detect AFib using the ECG app on her smartwatch gives her peace of mind and a better understanding of her condition. The ECG app is available on his compatible Garmin smartwatch and has five different results: sinus rhythm, atrial fibrillation, heart rate too high or too low to confirm the presence of atrial fibrillation, and inconclusive. can be generated. After an AFib specialist reviewed the ECG app results, Hauser underwent additional laboratory tests that led to a diagnosis of AFib.
“The watch is on my wrist all the time, so when (atrial fibrillation) happens, I can record it and share the data if I want,” Hauser said. “We can go back again.” garmin connect Then look back and look back at 4 weeks, 7 days, and a year (check your ECG app results). For me, that’s really important. It’s great to be able to check your heart rhythm and record it from your wrist. ”
Hauser, owner of Legend Running Shop in Angola, Indiana, currently owns at least six Garmin products, including the epix Pro™ (Gen 2), Edge® 1040 Solar, HRM-Pro™ Plus, and Varia™ UT800 Smart. I assume you are using it. Headlight, Varia RCT715 Radar Camera Tail Light, Forerunner® 945 LTE.
“I think I’m probably a Garmin fan, yeah,” Hauser said. “Most of the employees here have Garmin watches, too. I think there’s a reason why Garmin is the benchmark. Every iteration adds great features, like: live track, Garmin Pay™ or the ECG app. It’s always great to discover all the new things coming in the pipeline. ”
