Francia Raisa supported her longtime friend Selena Gomez’s first Rare Impact Fund benefit.
Extra’s Terry Seymour spoke with Francia and commented on how she and Selena are coordinating. “The only thing we coordinated was the spray tan,” Raisa said with a smile, adding that they decided on the tan together and admitting, “We didn’t talk about the dress.”
She recalled the first time she met Selena about 16 years ago. “When I was on ‘Secrets of the American Teenager’…she was on ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’. Disney had the stars of the show go to a children’s hospital and take care of all the kids. … She was part of my group. She came up to me and said, “My mother was pregnant as a teenager, and she was only 16 years old. I love it,” he said. I thought, “Oh my god, thank you!” I love your show. ” We started talking, we both had boyfriends at the time, and we started kissing… Around the time me and my boyfriend broke up and she and her boyfriend broke up, she called me and said, , I was like, “I’m having some difficulties.” A lot of things…I’m going through a breakup. ‘I thought, ‘Girl, me too,’ and we’ve been inseparable ever since. ”

She recalled donating one of her kidneys to Selena and their journey together, saying: Obviously, I treat her like a sister and she treats me like a sister too… I don’t know of any perfect relationship… When our situation came… No, I imagined something like that It didn’t happen, but I obviously don’t regret it. I am glad that we are here today to celebrate and support each other. ”
Terry said relationships have their ups and downs. Francia replied: “I’m a different person now than I was last year, or when I turned 30. I’m 35 now.” Even when Selena turns 30, she still thinks, “I’m different.” is. And she said, “Yeah.” I said, “Welcome to your 30s.” Now we can get to know each other again. ”
Francia said she was proud of Selena’s advocacy for mental health, saying, “She’s bringing a lot of awareness to mental health, and we both have a lot of support for each other.” I’m on my own journey of finally expressing what I’ve been through with myself and my mental health…I turned to her to find a way to get through all of this. I’m looking forward to it…Honestly, what she shared with her audience gave me the courage to start sharing with my audience.”
She added, “I think this is impressive…two powerful Latinos finally talking about something that is not well known in Latino households.”
Francia also shared information about her new business venture. “I’ve been teasing you that I have this famous salsa…it’s going to be released soon.” Selena is rooting for it too! “She was like, ‘I’ve got everything you need, girl.’
Terry said he and Francia are happy that they are in a good place. She says, “Sometimes I feel like people need to spend time apart in order to grow.”
She continued: “We’ve had to go on pretty much our own journeys and grow…I’m really happy with my career and my efforts right now. What the heck, taking time for myself? I don’t know if I could have done it if I didn’t understand what was happening to me, because I wasn’t okay.”
The star further added, “I’m fine now, and for the record, it had nothing to do with my kidneys.”
Francia continued, “I went through a lot in my childhood, and I’ll talk about that in a moment…She was such a huge support through it all.”
