Fox Corporation Chief Legal and Policy Officer Viet Dinh said: get off He left his post months after the company agreed to pay Dominion Boating Systems a $787.5 million settlement.
The resignation came after Ding advised the company through a lawsuit with the voting machine company, which was dropped shortly before trial in a settlement in April. Since then, the company has been affected.
When former President Donald Trump lost the 2020 election to President Joe Biden, Dominion leaked unsubstantiated allegations that the Dominion machine rigged the election, accusing the company’s network of “deliberately and erroneously ‘ attacked FOX for defamation, claiming to have blamed the company.
Fox agreed to a settlement, but the host was under no obligation to speak about the lawsuit or publicly apologize for his on-air remarks.
Days after the settlement, Fox kicked out primetime host Tucker Carlson, who started his own show on the website X, formerly known as Twitter. Jesse Watters has since replaced the same prime-time slot that Carlson once held.
Carlson and Ding were among the Fox anchors and executives questioned as part of the lawsuit. Depositions, emails, text messages and other communications were part of the body of evidence released prior to the settlement.
Prior to the trial, Mr. Dominion had asked the court to compel senior Fox executives, including Mr. Ding, to appear to testify in person. The judge in charge of the case said weeks before the start of the trial that he could compel his senior officials to testify.
Mr. Ding joined the company in 2018 as Head of Legal, and since then has led all legal, compliance and regulatory matters, as well as oversight of government affairs.
He will retire on December 31 and become a special advisor to the company.
In a news release, Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch said, “Both in his role over the past five years as a board member of 21st Century Fox and as a valued member of Fox’s management team, Mr. Beto has joined Fox. Thank you for your many contributions and service,” he said in a news release. “We are grateful that he will continue to serve FOX as a special counsel, and we will all benefit from his advice.”
