Fisher-Price re-announced the 2019 Rock ‘n Play Sleepers recall on Monday after at least eight infants died after the initial recall, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
“At the time the initial recall was announced on April 12, 2019, more than 30 people have died of infants rolling from their backs onto their stomachs or sides while unrestrained or otherwise in Rock’n’Play Sleepers. were reported to have occurred,” the commission said. in a statement“Some 70 additional deaths have been reported since the recall, including at least eight deaths reported to have occurred after the initial recall announcement.”
The CPSC noted that “approximately 100 deaths have been reported while infants were in the product.” “Fisher-Price, in some reports, was unable to confirm the circumstances of the incident and noted that the product was a Rock ‘n Play Sleeper.”
The CPSC said, “Consumers must immediately stop using Rock ‘n Play and contact Fisher-Price for a refund or voucher. It is illegal to sell or distribute recalled sleepers.”
The first recall in 2019 affected approximately 4.7 million sleepers. The sleepers were sold at stores such as Walmart, Target and Amazon from September 2009 until he April 2019.
At the time of the initial recall, Fisher-Price general manager Chuck Scoson said the company considered the recall “the best course of action” and would continue to maintain the safety of all its products.
