A Super Bowl commercial starring Carl Weathers has been revised following the actor’s death.
The ‘Rocky’ star passed away ‘peacefully in his sleep’ on Thursday (01.02.24) at the age of 76. Online sports betting company FanDuel announced it has adjusted its Super Bowl commercial ahead of the big game in Las Vegas. February 11th.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of Carl Weathers’ passing,” the company said in a statement to PEOPLE.
“During his lifetime, Karl was an iconic talent who had a profound impact on those with whom he worked on and off screen.”
FanDuel plans to modify the commercial as a mark of “respect” to the actor’s family.
The statement continued: “Fanduel was fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with him during the Super Bowl campaign.
“We are tailoring our campaign accordingly in honor of the grieving families.”
Meanwhile, Sylvester Stallone has already paid tribute to his former co-star on social media.
The late Stallone starred as Apollo Creed in the Rocky films and admitted that he played a big role in his success.
In a video posted to Instagram, Stallone, 77, said: “Hello everyone. This is an incredibly sad day for me. I’m so heartbroken that I can’t say anything. I just have to endure. I’m trying to do that because…” he said. .. Carl Weathers has been an integral part of my life, my success, all of it.
“I give him incredible admiration and admiration because…when he walked into that room and I saw him for the first time, I knew the greatness. But how great. “I never could have accomplished what we did together.” “Rocky” without him. ”
