It is becoming an annual tradition. Every February or March, The Hyatt World I’ll announce Changes to that annual category About a month before implementing them. Each year, some travelers lament the decline of the Hyatt Program’s world after the announcement of a category change. Like Carly, I look through the list and find attractive properties that drop categories. Additionally, while point costs have increased significantly over the years for some properties, I think Hyatt Point redemption is still well worth it. This is why.
Hyatt still has award charts
Over the years, many loyalty programs have moved. Dynamic Award Prices. Dynamic Award prices aren’t inherently bad, but usually lead to program points or miles being reduced in value in the end. And it makes it more difficult to get different values from your rewards in most cases.
The good news is that Hyatt has not decided to remove or modify the chart for its awards this year. World of Hyatt knows that its award charts are a differentiator, especially when it competes with the program with a larger footprint.
World of Hyatt uses awards charts, allowing you to predict how much you will need to redeem for your future stay. Plus, having an awards chart means you can escape peak pricing during events and high seasons.

World of Hyatt uses peak, standard and off-peak prices for each category, but booked far more off-peak award nights than peak award nights. The difference in off-peak and peak award rates is also minimal. Just 3,000 points Hyatt Category 1 Properties6,000 points Hyatt Category 4 Hyatt Category 7 Properties and 10,000 Points. Considering that Hyatt Point is much more valuable than most other Hotel Points, this is a much bigger difference than you would find in most other hotel loyalty programs.
But as we saw, we hope to continue to see Hyatt bring selected brands and properties at the Dynamic Award Rate Mr and Mrs. Smith and Venice Resort Las Vegas. If this is what Hyatt needs to maintain a chart of awards for most of its properties, I don’t worry about it. If I choose to stay in these properties, I will choose Earn Hyatt Points Instead of redeeming them.

Hyatt’s annual award category update is reasonable
Let’s be honest: it makes sense for World of Hyatt to update the categories of some of its awards once a year.
Certainly, it’s sad to see some properties slowly appearing in categories each year. And I personally confirm that it is the only Category 1 Park Hyatt – Park Hyatt Chennai – Finally you will be redirected to Category 2. However, it is reasonable that occupancy rates, average daily rates and other factors shift as real estate shifts.
We also appreciate how Hyatt handles annual category changes, especially as many other loyalty programs have devalued Noatice. Hyatt usually announces a category change planned about a month before it comes into effect, so members earn Hyatt points and have plenty of time to book their final stay at the current awards fee. Additionally, Hyatt will refund points for bookings that drop award categories between booking and staying.
In short, if you want to keep a chart of awards in the World of Hyatt program, you must accept that properties may change categories. Hyatt will announce and process changes in these categories in the best possible way.

Hyatt Point is still very valuable

Three properties that redeemed Hyatt Points within last year will increase their categories on March 25th. Lindner Hotel Prague Castle, Dublin in the heart of Hyatt, and Hyatt Place Frankfurt Airport. Interestingly, none of these properties gave me above average Redemption rate When I stayed.
For example, this February, I redeemed 40,000 points for an eight-night stay at the Lindna Hotel Prague Castle. This meant he got a modest redemption rate of 2.81 cents per point. However, once this property moves to Category 2, you will need to redeem 64,000 points for the same stay. This will lower the redemption rate to 1.75 cents per point, barely surpassing the February 2025 Hyatt Point rating.
The good news is that all of my highest redemption rates last year were on the property that had not been changed to category on March 25th. Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa Hyatt Place Dallas / Las Colinas. And I booked some excellent redemptions later this year in South Africa and Sweden, giving me over 5 cents per Hyatt Point.
So, we can see that changes in these categories will reduce the redemption rates for some properties, but overall I think the redemption rates are good.
