New York City Mayor Eric Adams on Friday said he was quiz pro to the Trump administration to dismiss his criminal corruption case, as allegedly by federal prosecutors before resigning in protest. He denied offering a transaction.
“I want to be clear with the New Yorker. I never offered – no one offered on my behalf – a deal of my authority as your mayor for the end of my case .
“I am only watched by the 8.3 million New Yorkers I represent and will always put this city first,” the Democratic mayor said.
“Now we can put this difficult episode behind us, helping us to restore trust, and we can continue to move forward and deliver for the people of this city,” he said. I said that.
The statement comes after at least seven Justice Department prosecutors resigned in response to the finest official Emil Bove, who ordered the dismissal of Adams’ case in Manhattan federal court.
Daniel Sasson, a representation of the Southern District of New York, offered his resignation Wednesday to Attorney General Pam Bondy in a letter detailing his objection to Bove’s order.
The letter also alleged at a January 31 meeting with Bove and her office members, Adams’ lawyers “repeated the equivalent of Quid Pro Quo.”
The mayor’s lawyer said Adams could help the Trump administration set a radical immigration enforcement agenda in New York City “if the indictment is dismissed.”
“Mr. Bove took notes during the meeting and warned members of my team who oversaw the collection of those notes in the meeting’s conclusions,” she wrote.
Bove accepted Sasson’s resignation in a scathing letter on Thursday and moved Adams’s case to Main DOJ. Bondy said he expects the Adams case to be rejected on Friday.
President Donald Trump on Friday distressed the dispute over Adams’ lawsuit, shaking away the wave of DOJ’s resignation.
“These are mostly people from the previous administration,” he told reporters in the Oval Office. “So they didn’t mean to be there anyway. They’d either be gone or be rejected.”
Five other senior Washington, D.C. officials resigned on Thursday over an order to fire Bove.
Prosecutor on Friday Hagan Scotten He told Bove, “He issued his own ferocious resignation letter in hoping to find enough fools or enough cowards to submit your move to dismiss Adams’ case.
