With food prices at a high these days, one store is beating the cake on price. That’s Erewhon.
The story went viral and sparked a debate after many internet users expressed their surprise at the extreme prices at grocery stores. Last month, a TikTok user claimed to have paid $20 for a smoothie and $150 for a reusable tote bag. Another person said they found slices of pie selling for more than $40 at the store. Another TikToker said it costs more than $3,000 to restock a store pantry.
Now, another user has sparked intrigue after documenting their experience at the store.
In a video that has been viewed more than 875,000 times as of Saturday, TikTok user Ari (@mamaa.arii) points out some of the store’s prices, including that a gallon of raw milk costs just under $20. He expressed his shock and surprise.
Ali ultimately decided to buy three items: a soda can, a steak plate, and sushi. The total came to $57.28.
“It costs almost $60 to buy all this and that,” she said in the video. “And I didn’t even finish it all!”
Ali said the steak dish was “fairly good,” but the sushi wasn’t up to her standards.
She then returned to try the “Hailey Bieber Smoothie,” which cost an additional $18. She then described this smoothie positively, even considering the smoothie’s high price.

“This tastes like a rich man’s banana,” she says.
She spent an additional $63.09 on the smoothie and two other purchases.
“I spent $120 on six things total,” she concludes.
In the comments section, users expressed their surprise at the store’s high prices.
“This makes Whole Foods look like Walmart,” one user joked.
“$18 for a smoothie? I thought $9.99 was expensive,” said another.
“Once I went in, I left right away,” a third person recalled.
That being said, some users confessed to frequenting this store.
“Please stop Erewhon, it’s my favorite grocery store!” exclaimed a commenter.
“If you’re wondering who shops there often, I’m guilty,” the second man admitted.
