TikToker has sparked a debate about today’s work culture by criticizing a 24-year-old man who quit his job after being offered a boring job.
In a recent viral video, TikTok user Peyton (@that.blue.longbed) showed a car cracked with remnants of crash wrap (a temporary protective adhesive used to protect vehicles). Unwrapping proved too difficult for one worker, who said he wanted to work at McDonald’s before retiring.
“Our generation has got to do a little better,” Peyton criticized.

In the comments section, viewers were quick to point out that salaries could be a real issue right now.
“I don’t blame them for getting paid as much as McDonald’s,” wrote one user.according to CNBCentry-level wages at McDonald’s range from $11 to $17 an hour in 2021.
“All I’ve heard is that you haven’t paid enough,” another user agreed.
In response to a comment asking about the employee’s annual salary, Peyton said: It’s not about salary. [It’s] work ethic. ”
Many users objected.
“When I was a teenager, I had your mindset,” one person wrote. “It’s great to work hard until you realize you’re being taken advantage of.”
Other viewers warned that workers should build their skills from the bottom up.
“He’s starting from the bottom, so he has to work his way up,” said one user. [nothing.]”
In a follow-up video, Peyton said career advancement comes from hard work, which translates into more pay and skills that help you grow. He said he didn’t have a salary, but wanted the same salary as his longtime employees.
As for working at McDonald’s, Peyton said doing so would offer no job security. He also said McDonald’s employees never work more than 30 hours a week.
“One more thing before we go,” Peyton continued. “You titled a little piece of shit. How the hell do you expect to walk into the field and claim a certain amount of salary? You’ve proven nothing.”
