From June 8, 2021 President Macron was slapped in the face by a man in the crowd while addressing the public during a visit to southeastern France. A video of the incident was posted on social media. The man was later sentenced to four months in prison.
From September 22, 2021 US President Joe Biden and President Macron have spoken for the first time after a major diplomatic crisis erupted between the two longtime allies over a contract to deploy nuclear submarines to Australia. Biden and Macron agreed over the phone to meet in person in Europe at the end of next month.
